The Importance of Survival Equipment by Caroline Forbes
Survival equipment is the name given to a package containing some tools and supply of basic necessities which can be used to encounter an emergency situation and help in survival. They are used at the time of camping and are also a part of various professions. The most important such profession being defense forces.
Other people such as forestry workers, bush pilots, surveyors and other who have to work in remote locations also keep this equipment handy. Those people who live in locations having extreme climatic conditions or region prone to earthquake or other such natural disasters, also prefer to have this survival equipment to face the difficult situations.
Survival equipments are available in varied sizes. They basic aim of this equipment is to provide tools to the person which would help him or her in getting shelter from all elements, help in keeping warm, provide all the basic health and first aid needs, supply food and water, make a tool available which can send signals to rescuers and also some equipment which would help in finding the way back.
There are so many things which would come in the mind of the person packing the kit are list of things required at varied occasions is endless. But it is advisable to pack some basic things which would fulfill all the necessary situations and also would not make it heavy to carry.
Some of the basic content of the kit include a knife, a Swiss Army Knife or a Multi tool knife is preferred, some matches, bandana, tinder, sewing kit, LED flash light, fish hooks and a laser pointer. All the items which need battery should have batteries with long shelf life. Along with these products a blanket needs to be kept in the kit. If possible it should be a fire shield blanket.
Another most important content of this equipment is the first aid kit. The first and foremost requirement at the time of any emergency situation is getting first aid to any injury sustained. Hence the first aid kit should include pressure bandages, gauze, some tendon bandages, durable bands of varied lengths, spray for any minor cut and rubbing alcohol.
There are many things which are kept in are cupboard but are never used by us. The reason for keeping them is just we like some of those things. It is ok to keep in cupboard but do not try this which putting together things for your survival equipment. Add only the stuff which would be required at the time of necessity. Extra stuff would only add to the weight of the bag and use the valuable space which may be for other more important thing.
